The ‘Stadium Buttondown’ is a long-sleeved play on our classic jersey with button-down lapels and curved patch pocket. These shirts were borne from experimenting with the remnants in our antique fabric collection. Constrained by the sizes of these offcuts, each garment uniquely balances pattern, texture, weight, and color to produce a true 1-of-1.

In this case, the shirt is cut from a single antique jacquard cotton tablecloth dyed a stunning “turkey red.” “Turkey red” refers to a scarlet textile dye obtained from madder or alizarin that pre-dates synthetic red dye. The textile’s pattern is reminiscent of “summer-and-winter” coverlets from the mid-1800s, and we believe this textile is from around the same time period.

We carefully placed the tablecloth’s ornate border to outline the jersey’s front, hem, and cuffs. The two-piece back matches this border to introduce a new pattern to the garment. Natural sun-fading is seen throughout.

Fits true-to-size with room through the torso. Dry clean only.
